In the 1950s, the German radio manufacturer Akkord-Radio was known for producing portable radios in modern design. The one shown is the Penguin model and dates from 1958.

The spread of radio technology meant that information, news, culture, and music reached many homes. During the 1950s, the portable, battery-powered radio made it possible to take the radio outside the four walls of the home.

Den tyske radiofabrikant Akkord-Radio var i 1950’erne kendte for at producere transportable radioer i moderne design. Den viste er af modellen Penguin og er fra 1958.

Udbredelsen af radioteknologien betød, at information, nyheder, kultur og musik kom ud i mange hjem. Med den transportable, batteridrevne  radio blev det i løbet af 1950’erne muligt at tage radioen med uden for hjemmets fire vægge.
