Electricity takes over in the kitchen
Electric stove, Lauritz Knudsen, ca. 1934
The electric stove was produced by the Danish company Lauritz Knudsen, which produced a range of electrical appliances. With the expansion of the electricity grid, the electric stove came on the market and took over most kitchens in Danish homes. The electric stove was another step towards the modern kitchen.
Its predecessor – the gas stove – made it possible to control the heat and turn it off completely when needed. Previously, there had been wood-burning stoves and closed fireplaces, which were more troublesome to use.
Today, Danes mostly use glass ceramic or induction stoves.
El overtager i køkkenet
